This medication helps lower total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo B, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels while raising HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. It is effective in improving blood lipid levels when used primarily in conjunction with dietary therapy. This thereby contributes to reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, this medication is used as an important adjunct in the treatment of hypercholesterolemia.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

This medication is administered once daily regardless of meals. For the treatment of primary hypercholesterolemia, the dosage range is 10/5 mg to 10/80 mg daily. The recommended initial doses are 10/5 mg, 10/10 mg, or 10/20 mg once daily. Precautions

This medication can cause a rare side effect called rhabdomyolysis, which can affect the muscles. Patients should immediately inform their doctor if they experience severe muscle pain or weakness symptoms. This medication should not be used in patients with impaired liver function or active liver disease, and liver function tests must be conducted before administration and regularly during treatment. Women who are pregnant, may become pregnant, or are breastfeeding should not take this medication, and women of childbearing potential should use appropriate contraception while taking this medication. The risk of muscle damage may increase when this medication is used in combination with certain drugs, so patients should inform their doctor or pharmacist if they are taking other medications, especially those that affect liver metabolism or fibrate-class drugs. Elderly patients or those with renal impairment, hypothyroidism, or other conditions with a high risk of myopathy should be monitored more closely when using this medication. During treatment, symptoms such as dizziness, muscle pain, fatigue, dyspepsia, liver function abnormalities may occur. If these symptoms persist or worsen, medical consultation is advised. This medication should be used alongside dietary therapy and lifestyle modifications, as it cannot completely treat hyperlipidemia on its own, requiring consistent management. Caution is advised due to the potential for dizziness or other symptoms when driving or operating machinery. Regular blood tests and clinical monitoring are crucial to detect any adverse reactions or side effects during treatment.
