This medication lowers elevated total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol, apo-B proteins, and triglyceride levels due to primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. Additionally, it helps raise HDL cholesterol levels, improving the lipid balance in the blood. It is more effective when used in conjunction with dietary adjustments and contributes to reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases. This action is utilized to effectively manage hyperlipidemia.

Precautions

If any abnormal muscle symptoms appear or muscle enzyme levels significantly increase, treatment should be discontinued. Especially if serious myopathy or rhabdomyolysis is suspected, treatment should be stopped immediately. Patients with severely impaired liver function, pregnant women, lactating women, and children under 10 years old should not use this medication. Caution is required for patients with a history of alcohol addiction or liver disease, as well as for those with a history of muscle-related diseases or elderly patients. If symptoms such as muscle pain, muscle weakness, or fatigue appear during treatment, notify a physician immediately. If symptoms indicative of liver dysfunction, such as nausea, vomiting, or malaise occur, discontinue use and seek medical attention. Women of childbearing age must use appropriate contraception while taking this medication, and if pregnancy is confirmed, the medication should be stopped immediately. This drug has many interactions with other medications, so inform the doctor or pharmacist about any other medications being taken. In particular, co-administration with certain antibiotics, antifungals, antivirals, grapefruit juice, etc., may increase blood concentration, raising the risk of side effects. Regular blood tests and liver function tests should be conducted to check for abnormalities during treatment. If muscle pain or weakness is severe or if muscle enzyme levels significantly rise, treatment should be stopped and a physician consulted. Children and elderly patients should be monitored more closely during treatment. There is no specific antidote for overdose; symptomatic treatment should be provided, and liver function and muscle enzyme levels should be tested. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children and stored in the original container to prevent misuse and degradation.
