Precautions

This medication should not be used in specific patients. For example, patients allergic to this medication or ergot alkaloids, patients with acute myocardial infarction or acute bleeding, patients currently taking sympathomimetic drugs, patients with very slow heart rates, patients with unresolved intracranial bleeding, and patients with orthostatic control disorders should not take this medication. In addition, patients with mild bradycardia or renal function issues should take this medication with caution. Taking this medication may occasionally cause digestive symptoms such as dyspepsia, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and dry mouth. Liver function test values may temporarily increase. Cardiovascular abnormalities such as dizziness, orthostatic hypotension, blood pressure changes, and increased blood uric acid have also been reported infrequently. Neurological symptoms such as drowsiness, fatigue, headache, and insomnia may also occur. Rarely, allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching, and flushing may occur. Since this medication has a blood pressure-lowering effect, regular blood pressure monitoring is necessary when taken with other antihypertensive medications to avoid excessive blood pressure reduction. Additionally, this medication may affect uric acid metabolism, so caution is advised for patients with a history of hyperuricemia or gout. Care should be taken when driving or operating machinery after taking this medication. This medication is metabolized by a specific enzyme (CYP450 2D6) in the liver, so interactions may occur if taken with other drugs that utilize this enzyme. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication with caution, as harmful effects on the fetus have been reported in animal studies. If breastfeeding, it is advisable to avoid use or discontinue breastfeeding if possible, as this medication may be excreted in breast milk. Elderly patients may have decreased physical function, so dosage should be adjusted when taking this medication. The safety for children has not yet been established. In cases of overdose, blood pressure may temporarily drop, so blood pressure changes should be monitored and necessary actions should be taken. Finally, this medication should be stored out of reach of children, and it is safest to keep it sealed in its original container.
