This drug is used for patients who need to receive Amlodipine and Ezetimibe/Atorvastatin combination therapy simultaneously. Amlodipine helps not only in treating hypertension but also in improving myocardial ischemia due to stable angina or vasospasm. Additionally, it is used in patients who have coronary artery disease confirmed by recent angiography, who do not have heart failure or have a cardiac output of 40% or more, to reduce the risk of hospitalization due to angina and the risk of coronary artery revascularization. The Ezetimibe/Atorvastatin combination is primarily used as an adjunct to dietary measures to lower total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglyceride levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia while increasing HDL cholesterol. It is also administered in cases of familial homozygous hypercholesterolemia where the lipid-lowering treatment effect is inadequate or when adjunct therapy is required. Thus, the combination of the two components effectively treats hypertension and dyslipidemia.

Precautions

This medication is a combination of three ingredients: Atorvastatin, Ezetimibe, and Amlodipine. First, Atorvastatin is a drug that helps lower cholesterol levels in the blood to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. However, it can rarely cause severe muscle damage, which may lead to renal impairment, so if muscle pain or weakness occurs, it is essential to inform a doctor immediately. Ezetimibe works by reducing cholesterol absorption to improve blood lipid levels, but it is important to be cautious of potential liver function abnormalities or muscle-related side effects. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that dilates blood vessels to lower blood pressure; it helps with blood pressure control but should be used with caution in patients with hypotension or heart failure. This medication should not be taken by individuals with liver or muscle disorders or those who are pregnant or breastfeeding. If symptoms such as liver dysfunction, muscle pain, or hypotension occur, one should consult a doctor. Additionally, there are many drug interactions, so patients should inform their physician of any other medications they are taking, especially regular liver function tests and muscle-related tests should be conducted. During treatment with this drug, side effects such as muscle pain, fatigue, fever, dyspepsia, headache, and so on may occur. If symptoms are severe or persistent, inform the healthcare provider. Lastly, this medication contains lactose, so patients with lactose intolerance should not take it, and caution is advised for elderly patients or those with renal insufficiency.
