Adult dose

This medication is administered once daily at a dose of 100 mg either as monotherapy or in combination therapy, with a maximum daily dose of 100 mg. It can be taken without regard to meals. For patients with renal impairment, dosage adjustment is not necessary for mild to moderate impairment (glomerular filtration rate 45–90 mL/min/1.73 m2). Precautions

This medication may cause hypersensitivity reactions; if allergic symptoms, skin rashes, hives, or severe skin conditions appear, stop taking it immediately and consult a doctor. While taking this medication, inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis) may occur, so if symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting occur, notify healthcare providers immediately. Patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis should not take this medication. Patients with diminished kidney function need dosage adjustments, so regular kidney function tests and adherence to a doctor's instructions are necessary. There is a risk of hypoglycemia when taking this medication, especially when used in conjunction with insulin or sulfonylureas, so blood sugar levels should be monitored frequently, and hypoglycemia symptoms should be carefully watched. This medication may cause severe arthralgia or skin blistering diseases; if joint pain or skin abnormalities occur, notify a doctor immediately. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised not to take this medication, and safety and efficacy in children under 18 years have not been sufficiently established. Elderly patients are at a higher risk for reduced kidney function, so regular kidney function tests before and after taking the medication, as well as dosage adjustments, are necessary. In case of overdose, seek immediate medical attention for appropriate treatment; this medication can be partially removed through hemodialysis. Interaction with other drugs is generally low, but it is advisable to consult with a doctor or pharmacist when taking with specific medications.
