This medication is used to alleviate acute nighttime pain and temporary insomnia caused by pain.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults: If you have difficulty sleeping due to pain, take 1 to 2 capsules once a day before bedtime. Including this medication, do not exceed 1,200 mg of ibuprofen and 75 mg of diphenhydramine in 24 hours. Space doses of ibuprofen and/or diphenhydramine by more than 4 hours after use. If the cause of symptoms is not identified, do not take continuously for more than 5 days.

Precautions

This medication may cause gastrointestinal bleeding in individuals who regularly consume three or more alcoholic beverages daily, and must be discussed with a physician or pharmacist. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, including this medication, may increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, so caution is needed for individuals with heart disease or risk factors. Serious gastrointestinal issues such as gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers, and perforations can occur, so elderly patients or those on prolonged use should be especially careful. Individuals with hypersensitivity to this medication or with gastrointestinal ulcers, bronchial asthma, severe liver, kidney, or heart disease should not take this medication. It is advisable to avoid this medication during pregnancy or if pregnant or breastfeeding is a possibility. While taking this medication, it should not be used in conjunction with ACE inhibitors, lithium, diuretics, methotrexate, anticoagulants, certain antidepressants, and caution is required with other analgesics or cold medicine. Do not exceed the recommended dosage, and do not take with other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and avoid alcohol consumption. Caution is needed when driving or operating machinery as drowsiness or dizziness may occur. If allergic reactions, breathing difficulties, severe headaches, skin rashes, or gastrointestinal bleeding symptoms occur while taking this medication, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. It is important to adhere strictly to the prescribed method of use and dosage and not to take for long periods of time; children should take this medication under adult supervision. This medication should be stored out of the reach of children and kept in a cool place, avoiding direct sunlight and moisture. Do not transfer to other containers, and care should be taken to prevent misuse and to maintain the quality of the medication.

  • Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweats, paleness, severe allergic reactions,
  • Severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in mucous membranes of mouth/eyes, severe skin reactions.
  • Asthma attacks, breathing difficulties accompanied by cough and fever.
  • Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice), severe lethargy, liver abnormalities (jaundice).
  • Sudden and very severe headache, thunderclap headache, fainting.

Drug interactions

This medication interacts with ACE inhibitors, lithium, furosemide and thiazide diuretics, high-dose methotrexate, coumarin anticoagulants (such as warfarin), selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, other sleep-inducing agents, sedatives, MAO inhibitors, cold medicines, analgesics (aspirin, acetaminophen, naproxen, etc.), cough and expectorant medications, and antihistamines containing oral medications, other medications containing ibuprofen or diphenhydramine.
