Improvement of symptoms in moderate to severe Alzheimer’s disease
This medication is used to treat moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease.
This medication is to be taken orally once daily, and should be administered at the same time every day. If necessary, it can be taken twice daily. 1. Dose Escalation: The maximum daily dose is 20mg, and the dosage is increased by 5mg per week for the first 3 weeks. - First week (days 1-7): Take 5mg daily - Second week (days 8-14): Take 10mg daily - Third week (days 15-21): Take 15mg daily - Fourth week
This medication should not be used in patients with a hypersensitivity to its ingredients. Patients with severe liver or kidney damage should also not take this medication. Patients with epilepsy or those who have experienced seizures in the past should use this medication cautiously. Particularly, the concurrent use of certain medications such as amantadine, ketamine, and dextromethorphan may exacerbate central nervous system side effects, and thus should be avoided. Patients with situations that alter urine acidity (pH) should be observed closely. Due to insufficient safety data, this medication should be used cautiously in patients with heart disease or uncontrolled hypertension. Side effects such as dizziness, headaches, constipation, drowsiness, and high blood pressure may occur; if symptoms are severe, consult a doctor. Additionally, symptoms like mental confusion or hallucinations may rarely occur; report any unusual symptoms immediately. This medication may interact with other drugs, so inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other medications. Caution is especially required when used concurrently with antipsychotics, skeletal muscle relaxants, and anticoagulants. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should consult a doctor before taking this medication, and nursing mothers are advised to discontinue breastfeeding. The safety and efficacy of this medication in children under 18 years of age have not been established. In cases of overdose, serious symptoms such as coma, hallucinations, or seizures may occur, so seek medical attention immediately; there is no specific antidote, and treatment will be symptomatic. This medication can affect patient concentration and reaction speed, so use caution when driving or operating machinery. Finally, this medication must be stored out of reach of children and should not be transferred into another container.
