How to take

Adult dose

The recommended starting dose of this medication is 10 mg of Empagliflozin and 5 mg of Linagliptin once daily. If additional blood glucose control is required, the dose may be increased to 25/5 mg once daily if tolerable. This medication can be taken regardless of meals, and the tablet should be swallowed whole. If a dose is missed, it should be taken as soon as remembered, but if the next dose is within 12 hours, skip the missed dose.

Precautions

This medication should not be administered to certain patients. For example, individuals who are allergic to the main ingredients or components of this drug, patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, and those undergoing dialysis should not use this medication. Patients with impaired renal function may experience altered effectiveness of this drug, so renal function should be assessed before administration and monitored regularly. Additionally, it should only be used cautiously in patients with mild to moderate heart failure and is not recommended for patients with severe heart failure. This medication may cause rare skin conditions such as acute pancreatitis or bullous pemphigoid, so if such symptoms occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. The most common side effect is a urinary tract infection, and other effects such as hypoglycemia, dehydration, skin rash, and increased urination may occur. Care should be taken as the risk of hypoglycemia may increase when taken together with insulin or sulfonylureas. Serious metabolic acidosis called ketoacidosis may occur, so during the use of this medication, if symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, or shortness of breath arise, inform medical professionals immediately. Elderly patients, those with low blood pressure, and individuals at risk for fluid loss should be cautious of dehydration and hypotension when taking this medication, and may temporarily discontinue use if necessary. Furthermore, this medication may increase the risk of genital infections, so those with a history of infections should monitor symptoms closely and seek treatment if needed. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised not to take this medication, and breastfeeding should be discontinued if taking this medication. It is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years of age, as safety and efficacy have not been established. In case of overdose, seek medical attention immediately, and information on whether hemodialysis can remove this drug's components is limited. Finally, this medication should be kept out of reach of children and stored in its original container to maintain its quality.
