Patients with thyroid dysfunction, particularly those with conditions such as nodular goiter or Hashimoto's thyroiditis, should exercise caution. It is safest not to use this medication in patients with impaired kidney function or in newborns and infants under 6 months of age. Patients with herpetic dermatosis or those receiving radioactive iodine treatment before and after should also avoid this medication. Caution should be taken when using this medication in patients with severe burns or a history of thyroid disease or renal failure. Allergic reactions may rarely occur when using this medication, so if symptoms like difficulty breathing or hives develop, usage should be discontinued immediately. Symptoms like pain, itching, rash, redness, and dermatitis may appear on the skin; if severe, use should be discontinued. Care should be taken to avoid using large amounts, as this may cause electrolyte imbalance or kidney dysfunction. Regular monitoring is important during long-term use, as changes in thyroid function may occur. High usage may lead to metallic taste or sensations of burning in the mouth and throat, skin reactions, gastrointestinal disturbances, or breathing difficulties, so caution is advised. If used just before delivery, the newborn's eyes and body should be thoroughly washed to eliminate residue of this medication. This medication is for conservative treatment; if symptoms do not improve, other treatment methods should be considered. During extensive burn treatment, adequate hydration and monitoring of kidney function and metabolic status should take place, and usage should be discontinued if abnormalities arise. There should be a 1-2 week interval between thyroid diagnostic tests and using this medication, and changes in thyroid function should be monitored. It is advisable for pregnant or breastfeeding women not to use this medication extensively or for prolonged periods, and monitoring thyroid function in newborns or infants is recommended. The iodine component of this medication can affect thyroid function tests, so it should be considered during examinations. In case of overdose, severe symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, or coma may occur, and immediate medical attention is required. Be careful not to let it enter the eyes; if it does, rinse immediately with clean water. Do not mix with other agents, and it is advisable to apply it to clean skin after cleansing the affected area. Clothing contaminated with this medication should be washed immediately, thoroughly with soap to maintain its antibacterial effect. Store away from direct sunlight and it is safer to store it in synthetic resin containers rather than metal containers.
