This medication is used for patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with telmisartan and amlodipine combination therapy. Additionally, atorvastatin is helpful for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia that is not controlled by diet and exercise, mixed hyperlipidemia, and familial hypercholesterolemia. Atorvastatin lowers total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels in patients at high risk for cardiovascular disease, slowing the progression of atherosclerosis. This medication is also effective in reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, preventing strokes and myocardial infarctions, and decreasing the recurrence risk after arterial revascularization. Therefore, it is used for patients who need improvements in blood pressure and blood lipid levels.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in pregnant women and must be stopped immediately if pregnancy is confirmed, as it can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn. Patients with allergies to the active ingredients or components of this medication, specific hereditary diseases, or severe liver or kidney diseases should avoid using it. Additionally, patients with certain muscle diseases or a history of muscle-related side effects in the past should also avoid its use. Some patients, such as those with hypertension, liver function impairment, the elderly, and those with hyperkalemia, require special caution when using this medication. If muscle pain or weakness occurs, it is crucial to consult a doctor immediately. This medication lowers blood pressure, so caution is necessary for patients with hypotension or cardiovascular diseases. To prevent muscle-related side effects, it is recommended to regularly check muscle enzyme levels before starting and during treatment. As this medication can affect liver function, periodic monitoring of liver enzyme levels is also required. When taken together with other medications, drug interactions may occur, so it is essential to inform the doctor or pharmacist of any other medications being used. Particularly, concomitant use with certain antibiotics, antifungals, immunosuppressants, and some antivirals may increase the risk of muscle side effects. Women who may become pregnant should use appropriate contraception while taking this medication, and it is advisable for breastfeeding mothers to avoid this medication. Safety and effectiveness have not been sufficiently confirmed for children and adolescents under 18 years, so its use is not recommended. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, dizziness, and heart rhythm abnormalities may occur, requiring immediate medical assistance. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and should not be transferred to another container. During use, dizziness or drowsiness may occur while driving or operating dangerous machinery, so caution is advised.
