How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage of this medication is 1 tablet, twice daily. The maximum recommended daily dose for each component is 25 mg of empagliflozin and 2000 mg of metformin. If blood sugar control is insufficient, 5 mg of empagliflozin may be taken twice daily, and if tolerability is excellent, the dose may be increased to 10 mg or a maximum of 25 mg. This medication should be taken with meals, and if a dose is missed, it should be taken as soon as remembered.

Precautions

This medication may cause serious side effects such as severe lactic acidosis, and caution is advised. It is contraindicated in patients with significantly reduced kidney function or those at risk of acute kidney injury. Additionally, there is a risk of hypoglycemia when used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas. It is important to avoid alcohol consumption while taking this medication. Lastly, care should be taken regarding fluid loss or dehydration, and if such symptoms occur, the medication should be temporarily discontinued and medical advice should be sought.
