How to take

For the treatment of type 2 diabetes patients, the dosage should be individualized within the range not exceeding 100 mg of vildagliptin and 2000 mg of metformin. Precautions

This medication can cause severe lactic acidosis or hypoglycemia, so it should not be used in patients with moderate to severe renal impairment or in patients with heart failure, acute myocardial infarction, or sepsis. Moreover, this medication should be discontinued 48 hours prior to procedures using radiographic contrast agents and can be resumed only after confirming normal kidney function post-examination. It should also not be administered to patients with allergic reactions to this medication, type 1 diabetes patients, or patients with acute metabolic acidosis. In cases of severe infections or severe trauma leading to poor systemic condition, this medication should be temporarily discontinued and can be restarted after the condition improves. It is safest for pregnant or breastfeeding women to avoid this medication. Risk of hypoglycemia and lactic acidosis exists when meals are irregular, intense exercise is undertaken, or it is combined with other drugs, so caution is warranted. This medication should also be used cautiously in patients with liver dysfunction, pulmonary dysfunction, excessive alcohol intake, dehydration, diarrhea, or vomiting. While taking this medication, liver function and kidney function should be regularly monitored to ensure no abnormalities arise, especially in the elderly, as they may have reduced kidney function requiring increased caution. There is a risk of acute pancreatitis with this medication, so if symptoms of pancreatitis occur, it should be stopped immediately and a physician consulted. Hypoglycemic symptoms may occur, so sugar should be consumed if symptoms arise and medical assistance sought if necessary. Additionally, if skin abnormalities such as blisters or ulcers occur, inform a physician immediately, and it is advisable to avoid alcohol consumption while on this medication. This medication is not recommended for children and adolescents and in cases of overdose, immediate medical attention should be sought. Finally, this medication should be stored out of reach of children and not transferred to other containers.
