Precautions

This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame. Since aspartame is broken down into phenylalanine in the body, it should not be taken by patients with the hereditary disease phenylketonuria. Furthermore, the maximum allowable daily intake of aspartame is set at 40 mg per kg of body weight, so it is important to limit the daily dosage for adults. This medication contains sodium metabisulfite, which may cause allergic reactions. Asthma patients are particularly sensitive to sulfites, so there is a risk of asthma attacks or severe allergic reactions. Rare digestive disturbances may occur upon administration, including loose stools, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting, and loss of appetite; headaches may also occur. The sodium benzoate included in this medication can cause mild irritation to the skin, eyes, and mucous membranes, so contact should be avoided. Shake the medication well before use and store it out of reach of children. Additionally, avoiding direct sunlight and storing in a cool place with low humidity, tightly closed, will help maintain the quality of the medication.
