First, the sitagliptin component can rarely cause serious allergic reactions; thus, if symptoms such as skin rashes, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck occur after taking the medication, you must stop taking it immediately and consult a doctor.
Additionally, sitagliptin may pose a risk of acute pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas, so if symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting, or fever develop while taking it, you should consult your healthcare provider immediately.
The pioglitazone component may cause or exacerbate edema or heart failure in patients with weak heart function, so patients with a history or symptoms of heart failure should not use this medication.
Moreover, during treatment with this medication, if you experience weight changes, difficulty breathing, or leg swelling, you should inform your doctor right away.
Caution is needed for patients with impaired kidney function, who should have regular kidney function tests; those with severe renal impairment should avoid using this medication.
It is recommended that this medication not be used in patients with active bladder cancer or a history of bladder cancer.
Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant must consult a doctor before taking this medication.
While taking this medication, symptoms of hypoglycemia (dizziness, headaches, trembling, etc.) may occur, so you should check your blood sugar immediately when symptoms appear and take appropriate measures if necessary.
This medication may cause weight gain and edema, so regular monitoring of weight is advisable, and if symptoms of edema occur, please consult a doctor.
Furthermore, this medication can potentially cause abnormalities in liver function; therefore, liver function tests should be performed before and during treatment, and if symptoms of liver damage (fatigue, loss of appetite, jaundice, etc.) occur, notify your doctor immediately.
This medication may interact with other drugs, so if you are taking other medications, be sure to inform your doctor or pharmacist and seek advice.
