Precautions

This medication contains sitagliptin and pioglitazone and is used for diabetes treatment. Sitagliptin can rarely cause serious allergic reactions. Therefore, if symptoms such as rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or tongue occur within three months of administration, the medication should be discontinued immediately and medical consultation should be sought. Additionally, sitagliptin may cause acute pancreatitis, so if symptoms like upper abdominal pain, vomiting, or loss of appetite occur, medical attention should be sought immediately. Pioglitazone may cause fluid retention, exacerbating heart failure, so patients with heart failure or a history of heart failure should not take this medication. When taking pioglitazone, watch for symptoms of swelling or shortness of breath, and consult a doctor if these symptoms occur. This medication should not be administered to patients with bladder cancer or a history of bladder cancer, and immediate medical attention should be sought if gross hematuria or urination issues arise. Patients with severely impaired kidney or liver function must consult a doctor before taking this medication, and dosage adjustment may be necessary if kidney function is decreased. It is safest for women who are pregnant or could become pregnant to avoid taking this medication. While taking this medication, signs of hypoglycemia (dizziness, cold sweat, severe fatigue, etc.) may occur, so caution is advised, especially when taken with other diabetes medications. Furthermore, this medication may cause side effects such as headache, upper respiratory tract infections, edema, weight gain, dyspepsia, etc. Therefore, if any unusual symptoms persist, medical consultation should be sought. Prior to taking this medication, it is essential to inform the doctor of your medical history and any medications currently being taken, and to regularly undergo blood tests and liver function tests.
