Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

For patients with type 2 diabetes receiving combined therapy with sitagliptin 100 mg and pioglitazone 15 mg or 30 mg, one tablet can be administered once daily regardless of meals.

Precautions

This medicine contains sitagliptin and pioglitazone and is used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. The sitagliptin component can rarely cause serious allergic reactions, so if skin rashes, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck occur after taking the medication, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. Additionally, pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) can occur, so if symptoms like abdominal pain, vomiting, or nausea arise, seek medical attention promptly. The pioglitazone component may put stress on the heart; therefore, patients with a history of heart failure or heart disease should not take this medication. Patients at risk for heart failure should closely monitor for symptoms such as weight gain, shortness of breath, and ankle swelling, and consult a physician if any symptoms occur. This medication may be affected by kidney function, so patients with impaired renal function should consult a physician before use, and regular kidney function tests are recommended. Also, this medication should not be used in patients with a history of bladder cancer or active bladder cancer, and if any bladder-related symptoms (hematuria, dysuria, etc.) occur, inform a doctor immediately. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should avoid taking this medication, and premenopausal women may need to use effective contraception during treatment, as there is an increased possibility of pregnancy. While taking this medication, hypoglycemic symptoms (dizziness, cold sweat, severe fatigue, etc.) may occur, so caution is advised, especially when used in combination with other diabetes medications, as the risk of hypoglycemia may increase. Various side effects such as swelling, weight gain, headache, upper respiratory infection, etc., may occur during treatment; consult a physician if symptoms arise. Finally, this medication can interact with other drugs, so if you are taking any other medications, be sure to inform your doctor or pharmacist and seek their advice.
