Sterilization and disinfecting effect for wounds and infected areas
This medication is used for sterilization and disinfection to prevent infection in torn wounds, burns, and lesions. It is also effective for infected areas such as ulcers and abscesses, and helps disinfect infected skin. It is used for sterilization and disinfection of surgical sites, injection sites, and catheter insertion sites to prevent infections and aid in wound recovery.
Apply an appropriate amount to the affected area several times a day.
This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, it should not be administered to individuals allergic to this medication or any of its components, those with thyroid dysfunction, patients with poor kidney function, particularly newborns and infants under 6 months, patients with herpetic dermatitis, or patients before and after receiving radioactive iodine treatment. It should be used cautiously in severely ill patients or those with a history of thyroid disease and kidney failure. When using this medication, allergic reactions such as respiratory distress and urticaria may rarely occur, so it should be discontinued immediately if any abnormal symptoms appear. Pain, itching, irritation, or rash may occur on the skin, and in severe cases, wound healing may be delayed, requiring caution. Using a large amount may lead to electrolyte imbalances, metabolic acidosis, or kidney failure, so caution is advised. Additionally, long-term use may affect thyroid function, so thyroid function tests are recommended. If used in excess, a metallic taste or burning sensations in the mouth and throat may occur, along with skin reactions or gastrointestinal upset, diarrhea, and respiratory distress, so it must not be overused. If used just before childbirth, the newborn's eyes should be thoroughly washed and bathed to prevent the medication from remaining on the skin. If symptoms do not improve, surgical treatment should be considered, and in patients with extensive burn injuries, sufficient fluid resuscitation and regular monitoring of kidney function and metabolic status are necessary. This medication may affect thyroid function tests, so tests should be done with a 1-2 week interval after administration, and long-term use should be monitored for thyroid dysfunction. In case of infection, the wound should be cleansed with physiological saline before using this medication, and rare but severe allergic reactions may occur, so any abnormal symptoms should be reported to healthcare personnel immediately. Patients undergoing lithium treatment should not use this medication routinely, and caution should be exercised when used with specific disinfectants or enzyme therapies, as they may reduce effectiveness. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid long-term or extensive use of this medication, as it may affect the thyroid function of the fetus or newborn, and thyroid function tests for the newborn are recommended. The iodine component of this medication may affect the results of thyroid function tests, so caution should be taken regarding its use before and after testing. In case of overdose, symptoms such as vomiting, abdominal pain, dizziness, and coma may occur, requiring prompt treatment and detoxification. This medication should be kept out of the eyes and should not be mixed with other medications. When using, ensure that the affected area is thoroughly disinfected, and if it contacts clothing, wash it immediately. Store it away from direct sunlight, and be cautious as corrosion may occur in metal containers. Lastly, caution must be taken regarding dosage and application site, as the iodine concentration in the blood may rise with intravaginal use.
