Improvement in blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication helps control blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes through the combined action of Sitagliptin and Metformin. When used in conjunction with dietary and exercise regimens, the blood sugar control effect can be enhanced. Therefore, this medication is used to assist in managing diabetes and improving blood sugar.
This medication is generally taken 2 times a day with meals, gradually increasing the dose to reduce gastrointestinal side effects caused by Metformin. 1. Patients who are not currently being treated with Metformin: - Initial dose is Glimemazac 50/500 mg taken as 1 tablet twice daily, which can be increased to 50/1000 mg taken as 1 tablet twice daily. 2. Patients already treated with Metformin.
This medication contains Sitagliptin and Metformin and is used for diabetes treatment. Firstly, during the use of this medication, severe allergic reactions may occur. If you experience rashes, hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or lips, consult your doctor immediately. Additionally, this medication may cause serious side effects such as pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas, so if you experience abdominal pain, vomiting, or severe abdominal discomfort, inform your healthcare provider immediately. The Metformin component may rarely cause a dangerous condition called lactic acidosis, which can present with symptoms such as muscle pain, difficulty breathing, fatigue, abdominal pain, and changes in consciousness. If you experience these symptoms, stop taking the medication immediately and go to a hospital. Patients with poor kidney function, acute myocardial infarction, severe infection, or dehydration symptoms should not take this medication. Moreover, discuss with your healthcare provider before temporarily discontinuing the medication before or after surgery or before tests using iodine contrast agents. It is also advisable to avoid using this medication during pregnancy or if there is a possibility of pregnancy, as well as for nursing mothers. During the use of this medication, symptoms of hypoglycemia, such as dizziness, sweating, severe hunger, and tremors, may occur. If you experience these symptoms, immediately consume sugar and consult your doctor. Furthermore, vigorous exercise or irregular or inadequate food intake can increase the risk of hypoglycemia, so caution is necessary. This medication can affect liver and kidney function, so regular blood tests and kidney function checks are recommended, and it is also advisable to periodically check vitamin B12 levels. Alcohol can increase the risk of lactic acidosis, so avoid excessive drinking while using this medication. Lastly, if you notice any new symptoms or adverse reactions while taking this medication, it is important to inform your healthcare provider immediately and seek advice.
Hives, severe swelling (angioedema), difficulty breathing, anaphylaxis, rash, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, exfoliative skin disease, acute pancreatitis, acute renal failure, severe joint pain, blistering similar to pemphigus, thrombocytopenia, rhabdomyolysis, severe hypoglycemia, acute renal failure, difficulty breathing, unstable angina, liver abnormalities (elevated liver enzyme levels and jaundice-related symptoms), severe neurological symptoms (severe headache, visual disturbances, confusion, seizures, etc.)
