This medication is used to help regulate blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. Sitagliptin and Metformin work together to complement the effects of diet and exercise, helping to effectively manage blood sugar levels. In other words, this medication is used to stabilize blood sugar and improve diabetes management.
How to take

Take this medication 50/500 mg twice a day, one tablet at a time, and it may be increased to 50/1000 mg twice a day, one tablet at a time.
2. For patients currently on Metformin:
Precautions
This medication consists of Sitagliptin and Metformin, and it helps to control blood sugar levels.
When taking this medication, severe allergic reactions may occur; therefore, if symptoms such as skin rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor.
Furthermore, acute pancreatitis, a serious inflammation of the pancreas, may occur, so if symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting, or loss of appetite arise, immediately notify medical personnel.
This medication should not be administered to patients with significantly impaired kidney function, severe infection, dehydration, or heart failure.
Especially when undergoing examinations using iodine contrast agents, this medication should be discontinued before and after the examination, and should only be resumed after confirming normal kidney function.
Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as nursing mothers, should not take this medication.
During treatment, serious side effects such as hypoglycemia and lactic acidosis may occur, so caution is needed if meals are skipped or excessive exercise is performed.
Especially elderly patients or those with reduced kidney function should regularly monitor their kidney function, and if kidney function worsens, the medication should be discontinued immediately.
Alcohol consumption should be avoided during treatment, as alcohol can increase the risk of drug side effects.
Additionally, if taking other blood sugar-lowering medications or specific drugs, the risk of hypoglycemia may increase, so it is essential to inform your doctor or pharmacist about all medications being taken.
This medication may cause gastrointestinal disturbances, headaches, cold-like symptoms, etc., but they are generally mild.
If symptoms such as severe joint pain or skin blistering occur, consult medical personnel immediately.
In the event of surgery, this medication should be discontinued 48 hours prior to the surgery, and should only be resumed after confirming normal kidney function post-surgery.
Lastly, if excessive fatigue, muscle pain, difficulty breathing, or changes in consciousness occur during treatment, it is crucial to stop taking the medication and inform medical personnel immediately.
Finally, this medication has not been established as safe and effective for use in children under the age of 18.
