Efficacy & effects

Improvement in blood sugar control for type 2 diabetes

  • Difficulty in blood sugar control for patients with type 2 diabetes
View approved original text

This medication is used to help control blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. It can be administered as monotherapy when blood sugar is not adequately controlled with diet and exercise alone. Additionally, if there is no previous experience with diabetes treatment and it is difficult to control blood sugar with monotherapy, it can be used in conjunction with metformin. It can also be administered alongside sulfonylureas, metformin, thiazolidinediones, and insulin when these monotherapies do not provide sufficient blood sugar control. Moreover, this medication can be added to the treatment when blood sugar control is challenging despite the use of multiple medications. Therefore, this medication effectively improves blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes.
