Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

This medication is administered as 1 tablet containing 100 mg of sitagliptin and 10 mg of dapagliflozin once daily, irrespective of meals. The tablet should be swallowed whole.

Precautions

This medication contains sitagliptin and dapagliflozin and is used for diabetes treatment. Firstly, sitagliptin may rarely cause severe allergic reactions, and if symptoms such as skin rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck occur, you should stop taking the medication immediately and consult a healthcare professional. Additionally, sitagliptin may cause pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas, so if severe abdominal pain, vomiting, or nausea occurs, you should visit a hospital immediately. Next, dapagliflozin may lead to a decrease in body fluids, resulting in low blood pressure; therefore, elderly patients or those with impaired kidney function should carefully monitor for signs of dehydration and changes in blood pressure. Dapagliflozin may increase the risk of genital and urinary tract infections, so if symptoms such as itching, pain, discomfort, or painful urination occur, you should inform a healthcare professional immediately. This medication should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes, those experiencing diabetic ketoacidosis, or patients undergoing dialysis, and dosage adjustments are necessary for patients with reduced kidney function. Pregnant or nursing women should avoid using this medication, especially nursing mothers, as the drug may be transferred through breast milk and affect the newborn. Moreover, caution should be exercised for hypoglycemia symptoms when used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas that pose a risk of low blood sugar, and the dosages of those medications may need to be adjusted if necessary. During treatment with this medication, adequate hydration is essential to prevent dehydration, and you should consult a doctor immediately if you experience any unusual symptoms such as sudden weight loss, severe fatigue, difficulty breathing, or abdominal pain. Finally, the safety and efficacy of this medication in children have not been established, and elderly patients should have their kidney function regularly monitored while taking this medication.
