Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

The recommended dosage is 100 mg once daily for both monotherapy or combination therapy, with a maximum daily dosage of 100 mg. This medication can be taken regardless of meals. Adjustment of the dosage may be necessary based on kidney function. No dosage adjustment is required in patients with mild to moderate renal impairment (eGFR 45 or higher but less than 90). Precautions

This medication may cause serious allergic reactions after administration; therefore, if symptoms such as skin rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. There is a potential for developing serious pancreatic inflammation known as acute pancreatitis during the use of this medication. If symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting, or persistent nausea occur, it is crucial to seek immediate medical attention. Patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis should not use this medication, and those with allergies to this drug or its components should also avoid it. Patients with impaired kidney function should adjust the dosage of this medication and undergo regular kidney function tests. This medication can be used alone or in conjunction with other diabetes treatments, but caution is required when used with insulin or sulfonylureas, as there may be an increased risk of hypoglycemia. During treatment, side effects such as headache, upper respiratory infection, nasopharyngitis, diarrhea may occur; if symptoms are severe or persistent, consult a doctor. Rare side effects such as severe arthralgia or blistering conditions resembling bullous pemphigoid have been reported; discontinue use immediately and consult a specialist should these symptoms occur. Use of this medication is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, and the safety and efficacy in children under 18 years have not been established. In cases of overdose, management to remove the drug from the gastrointestinal tract and monitor conditions such as electrocardiograms may be necessary, and this medication can be partially removed by hemodialysis. This medication has minimal interactions with other medications, but careful monitoring is required when used with digoxin.
