This medication is used to improve blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes. It primarily serves as an adjunct to diet and exercise therapies and can be administered alone or in combination with other medications. This helps effectively manage blood sugar levels and supports the maintenance of the patient's health.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

The recommended dose of this medication is 100 mg once daily, either as monotherapy or in combination therapy, with a maximum daily dosage of 100 mg. It can be taken regardless of meals. In patients with renal impairment, dosage adjustments are required based on glomerular filtration rate. - In mild renal impairment (eGFR 60 or above but less than 90), no dosage adjustment is needed. - In moderate renal impairment (eGFR 45 or above but less than 60), no dosage adjustment is needed. -

Precautions

This medication may cause serious allergic reactions; therefore, if symptoms such as skin rash or swelling occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. Additionally, acute pancreatitis, a serious inflammation of the pancreas, may occur, so if symptoms such as abdominal pain or vomiting develop, notify healthcare personnel immediately. Patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis should not use this medication, nor should it be administered to those with a severe allergy to this drug or its ingredients. Patients with impaired kidney function may need dosage adjustments, and regular kidney function tests are recommended. During treatment with this medication, hypoglycemic symptoms may occur, particularly when used with insulin or sulfonylureas, so blood sugar levels should be closely monitored. If severe joint pain or skin blistering symptoms occur, inform a doctor immediately, and this medication may need to be discontinued if necessary. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding are advised not to use this medication, and its safety and efficacy have not been established in children under 18 years of age. In case of overdose, seek immediate medical attention, as this medication can be partially removed by hemodialysis, so dialysis treatment may be considered if necessary. During treatment, there may be drug interactions, so it is important to inform healthcare personnel of all medications being taken and to receive regular monitoring.
