This medication is typically administered once daily with the evening meal. The maximum dosage is once daily dapagliflozin 10 mg/extended-release metformin 2000 mg. The dosage should be gradually adjusted to minimize gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin. This medication must be swallowed whole and not crushed.
This medication is used in the treatment of diabetes and aids in the control of blood sugar. However, it should not be administered to patients with reduced kidney function, severe infections, or dehydration. Additionally, it is advisable for women who are pregnant or nursing to avoid using this medication. Rarely, this medication may cause lactic acidosis, a dangerous condition, so consult a doctor immediately if symptoms occur. Hypoglycemia may occur when used with insulin or other diabetes medications, requiring careful monitoring of blood sugar levels. The safety of this medication in children has not been established, and particular caution must be exercised in the elderly regarding decreased kidney function. In case of overdose, seek appropriate medical treatment immediately. Finally, store this medication out of reach of children and in its original container to maintain quality.
