This medication helps to relieve temporarily occurring insomnia. It reduces symptoms such as difficulty falling asleep or waking up frequently, helping to achieve restful sleep. Therefore, it is used to reduce discomfort in bed and maintain a healthy sleep pattern.

How to take

Adult dose

Take 50mg of diphenhydramine hydrochloride orally before bedtime once daily. If excessive sedation occurs, take 25mg.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by individuals who have had an allergic reaction to it. It should not be used by patients who have difficulty breathing due to asthma attacks, emphysema, or chronic bronchitis. Patients with glaucoma, which causes increased pressure in the eyes, should also avoid taking this medication. Individuals with prostate enlargement or conditions causing obstruction of the lower urinary tract should refrain from using this medication. It is advisable not to use this medication if you have peptic ulcers or duodenal obstruction. Children under the age of 15 should not take this medication. Patients with epilepsy or seizure disorders should also avoid this medication. Patients with a specific rare tumor known as pheochromocytoma should not use this medication. Women who are breastfeeding should not take this medication for safety reasons. Patients who regularly experience insomnia or have been diagnosed with insomnia should not use this medication. During the course of taking this medication, do not take any other medication containing the same ingredient. Additionally, it is advisable not to combine it with hypnotics, specific antidepressants such as MAO inhibitors, cold medicine, antipyretics and analgesics, cough medicine, expectorants, or other medications containing antihistamines. This medication is preferably not taken for long periods or continuously. If drowsiness persists or if the body feels lethargic after taking this drug, it is best to avoid dangerous activities such as driving or operating machinery. It is safe not to consume alcohol while taking this medication. Patients with myasthenia gravis, those currently undergoing treatment by a physician, senior citizens, individuals with allergic tendencies or who have experienced allergic reactions to medications must consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should also consult with a professional before use. If symptoms such as skin rashes, itching, dry mouth, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, heaviness of the head upon waking, daytime drowsiness, discomfort, nervous irritability, consciousness disturbance, palpitations, difficulty urinating, or blurred vision appear after taking this medication, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor or pharmacist. If symptoms do not improve after 2-3 days of taking the medication, it is advisable to consult a professional. Medications should be taken exactly as prescribed in the correct dosage, and if insomnia persists for more than two weeks, you should definitely consult a doctor. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and stored securely in its original container sealed properly.
