Patients currently not treated with metformin: - Take this medication 50/500 mg twice daily, one tablet per dose, and the dosage can be increased to 50/1000 mg twice daily, one tablet per dose. 2. Precautions

This medication contains two components, sitagliptin and metformin, and is used for diabetes treatment. When taking this medication, serious allergic reactions may occur. If you experience symptoms such as rash or difficulty breathing, you should immediately stop taking the medication and consult a doctor. Additionally, pancreatitis, an inflammation of the pancreas, may occur, so if you experience abdominal pain, vomiting, or loss of appetite, you should promptly inform a healthcare professional. Due to the metformin component, lactic acidosis, a rare but fatal metabolic disorder, can occur; therefore, this medication should not be taken during severe infections, dehydration, or when there is reduced kidney function. Patients with moderate to severe renal impairment, acute heart failure, or those scheduled for certain imaging tests should not take this medication, and pregnant or nursing women should also avoid it. Care should be taken when experiencing irregular meals, vigorous exercise, or taking other medications together as there may be risks of hypoglycemia or other side effects. Common side effects include diarrhea, nausea, headache, upper respiratory infection, and especially when taken with insulin or sulfonylureas, the risk of hypoglycemia may increase. Blood sugar levels, kidney function, and vitamin B12 levels should be regularly monitored, and if any unusual symptoms arise, you should consult a doctor immediately. Before and after surgery, this medication should be discontinued for a while, and alcohol consumption should be avoided as it can increase the risk of lactic acidosis. This drug can be given to the elderly but careful monitoring of kidney function is necessary, and in case of overdose, you should seek medical attention immediately for appropriate treatment.
