This medication is generally taken twice daily with food, and the dosage should be increased gradually to reduce gastrointestinal adverse effects caused by Metformin. 1. For patients who are currently not treated with Metformin: Take this medication 50/500 mg, 1 tablet twice daily. When increasing the dose, use 50/1000 mg, 1 tablet twice daily. 2. Additionally, pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas, can rarely occur as a serious side effect; if severe abdominal pain, vomiting, or significant discomfort occurs, visit the hospital immediately. The Metformin component in this medication can cause a rare but fatal complication called lactic acidosis; if sudden muscle pain, weakness, difficulty breathing, or abdominal pain occurs, discontinue use immediately and seek emergency treatment. Patients with impaired kidney function or conditions that affect kidney function such as severe infections, dehydration, congestive heart failure, or acute myocardial infarction should not take this medication. Furthermore, pregnant women, women who may become pregnant, and nursing mothers should not take this medication. Patients with irregular or insufficient food intake, those who engage in vigorous exercise frequently, and those allergic to certain colorants should take this medication with caution. Hypoglycemic symptoms may occur during treatment; if symptoms such as dizziness, cold sweat, extreme hunger, or trembling appear, sugar should be taken immediately. The risk of hypoglycemia is higher, particularly when taking this medication with other hypoglycemic agents such as insulin or sulfonylureas. Before surgery or radiographic examinations using contrast agents, inform healthcare providers about the use of this medication, and if necessary, temporarily discontinue use. Regular tests of liver or kidney function should be conducted, and if abnormalities are found, dosage adjustments or discontinuation may be necessary. Excessive alcohol consumption should be avoided while using this medication, as alcohol intake may increase the risk of lactic acidosis. Finally, if new symptoms or adverse reactions occur while taking this medication, it is important to immediately inform and consult with a healthcare provider.
