Reduction of risk for hypertension and cardiovascular diseases (myocardial infarction, stroke) and improvement of dyslipidemia
This medication is used for patients who require simultaneous administration of Pimasartan and Atorvastatin. Pimasartan is primarily used to treat essential hypertension. Atorvastatin calcium plays a role in reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases. It reduces the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and vascular interventions in adults with multiple cardiovascular risk factors and also helps reduce the risk of myocardial infarction and stroke in patients with type 2 diabetes. Additionally, it lowers the risk of various cardiovascular events and angina and hospitalizations due to congestive heart failure in patients with coronary heart disease. It is also effective for treating dyslipidemia by lowering cholesterol and triglyceride levels and increasing HDL cholesterol levels.
This medication is taken once daily, 1 tablet with water at any time, regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). Pimasartan - The recommended dosage is 30 to 60 milligrams once daily, regardless of meals. - If blood pressure is not adequately controlled, the dosage may be increased to 120 milligrams once daily. - For elderly patients over 70 years, the initial dose should be 30 mg once daily.
This medication can cause serious harm or death to the fetus and newborn if taken during pregnancy, particularly during the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. This medication should not be used in patients with impaired liver function, muscle disorders, or certain genetic lactose intolerance. If symptoms of muscle pain or weakness occur during treatment, consult a doctor immediately, and discontinue treatment if severe. Blood pressure may drop too low, so patients with low blood volume or salt depletion should be monitored closely at the start of treatment. This medication may have side effects such as liver dysfunction, headaches, dizziness, fatigue, and edema, so report any worsening symptoms to a doctor. Since there are many drug interactions, inform healthcare providers of any other medications being taken, and caution is advised when used with certain antibiotics, antifungals, and HIV treatments. Women of childbearing potential should use appropriate contraception while taking this medication, and nursing mothers should avoid its use or discontinue breastfeeding. It is advisable not to use this medication in children or in pediatric patients under 10 years of age, as safety and efficacy have not been established. Elderly patients may be more sensitive to this medication, so extra caution should be taken during use. In the case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension or cardiac arrhythmias may occur, and appropriate treatment should be given if necessary. This medication should be stored out of reach of children in its original container, as transferring it to another container may risk deterioration or misuse.
