Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a condition where food or stomach acid flows back into the esophagus, causing discomfort and inflammation. This medication is effective for treating erosive reflux esophagitis and is used as a long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in esophagitis patients. Additionally, it helps improve symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease even when there is no esophagitis. It is used to alleviate uncomfortable symptoms caused by gastroesophageal reflux and to prevent recurrence.
