How to take

Adult dose

This medication should be taken once daily with meals, primarily in the evening, while gradually increasing the dosage. Precautions

This medication is used for the treatment of diabetes and assists in blood sugar control. However, it may cause allergic reactions in some patients, so if symptoms such as a skin rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or throat occur within three months after starting the medication, it should be discontinued immediately and a doctor consulted. There is a risk of pancreatitis, an inflammation of the pancreas, with this medication, so patients should notify their healthcare provider immediately if abdominal pain, vomiting, or severe abdominal discomfort occur. Additionally, one of the components in this medication should not be administered to patients with severely impaired kidney function, and patients with reduced kidney function should undergo regular kidney function tests. Acute diseases that can affect kidney function, such as severe infections, dehydration, acute heart failure, and acute myocardial infarction, should not be treated with this medication. In particular, the medication should be temporarily discontinued before and after examinations using iodine contrast media, and reinitiated only after confirming normal kidney function. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as nursing mothers, should avoid taking this medication for safety. This medication can cause hypoglycemia, so caution should be exercised when skipping meals or engaging in vigorous exercise, and the dosage should be adjusted under the direction of a physician if taken with other hypoglycemic agents to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia. Moreover, this medication may lower vitamin B12 levels, so regular blood tests to check vitamin B12 levels are recommended for long-term use. Excessive alcohol consumption can increase the risk of side effects from this medication, thus alcohol should be avoided during treatment. If surgery is planned, this medication should be discontinued 48 hours prior to the procedure, and resumed once normal oral intake has returned and kidney function has been confirmed to be normal. While taking this medication, regular blood sugar tests and kidney function checks should be conducted to continuously monitor health status, and any unusual symptoms should prompt immediate consultation with a physician.
