This medication helps control blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes by utilizing both sitagliptin and metformin. Accordingly, this medication is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes by effectively helping manage blood sugar levels.
The 100/1000 mg extended-release tablet is taken once a day, one tablet at a time. Patients taking the 50/500 mg extended-release tablet or the 50/1000 mg extended-release tablet are to take two tablets at once, once a day. 1. For patients not currently treated with metformin: The initial dose is a total daily amount of 100 mg of sitagliptin and 1000 mg of metformin. The dosage can be increased to metformin
This medication consists of two active ingredients, both of which are used for the treatment of diabetes. The first component helps regulate blood sugar, but caution is needed as some patients may experience severe allergic reactions. If symptoms like skin rash or difficulty breathing occur, discontinue taking this medication immediately and consult a doctor. Additionally, this medication can cause a serious side effect known as pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas, so if abdominal pain or vomiting occurs during use, notify a healthcare professional immediately. The second component may be risky for patients with poor renal function, particularly in cases of moderate or severe renal impairment, this medication should not be taken. This medication should not be administered to patients with acute heart disease, heart failure, severe infections, or dehydration; and it must be discontinued prior to radiological examinations. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not use this medication for safety reasons. While taking this medication, regular kidney function tests are necessary, and those with liver function abnormalities or excessive alcohol consumption should take special care. Additionally, hypoglycemic symptoms may occur if blood sugar becomes too low, so it is advisable to eat regularly and avoid excessive exercise. Patients scheduled for surgery should stop taking this medication 48 hours before the procedure and resume only after confirming that kidney function has returned to normal post-surgery. This medication has been reported to cause side effects such as joint pain, skin rash, muscle pain in some patients, so consult healthcare professionals if any unusual symptoms occur. Lastly, the risk of hypoglycemia may increase when this medication is taken with other antihyperglycemic agents or certain medications, so if you are taking other medications, be sure to inform your healthcare provider. This medication's safety has not been established in children, and dosage adjustments should be considered in elderly patients with regard to kidney function.
Urticaria, angioedema, anaphylaxis, rash, skin vasculitis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, exfoliative dermatitis, acute pancreatitis, acute renal failure, lactic acidosis, severe lactic acidosis, severe hypoglycemia, acute renal failure, elevated liver enzymes, liver abnormalities (jaundice), severe and disabling arthralgia, bullous pemphigoid, severe neurological symptoms, severe edema accompanied by elevated blood pressure
