This medication should be taken once daily in the evening with meals to reduce gastrointestinal adverse reactions associated with metformin, with gradual dose increments. Do not break, crush, dissolve, or chew the tablets to maintain the extended-release properties. For the extended-release formulation of this medication, 100/1000 mg, the dose is 1 tablet once daily. Precautions

This medication consists of two components, each used for the treatment of diabetes. The first component helps in blood sugar control; however, serious allergic reactions may occur in some patients. These reactions can appear within the first three months after starting the medication, so if symptoms such as skin rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional. Additionally, pancreatitis, an inflammation of the pancreas, can occur rarely, so prompt reporting to healthcare professionals is needed if symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting arise. The second component is not administered to patients with impaired kidney function or those with certain health conditions such as dehydration, severe infections, or heart problems. Moreover, if iodinated contrast is used for radiological examinations, the medication should be temporarily discontinued and only restarted after confirming normal kidney function. This medication is not recommended for use in pregnant or breastfeeding women, nor in children under 18 years of age. During treatment, symptoms of hypoglycemia may occur, particularly when used in combination with other blood sugar-lowering agents or insulin, so blood sugar levels should be monitored regularly and addressed immediately if symptoms arise. This medication may affect liver and kidney function, so regular blood tests and kidney function evaluations are required. Older adults particularly need to be cautious as kidney function may decline more easily. Additionally, refrain from alcohol consumption during treatment, and temporarily discontinue use before and after acute illness or surgery. Rarely, joint pain or skin diseases may occur; report any unusual symptoms to a healthcare professional. Finally, this medication may interact with other drugs, so inform your healthcare professional of any other medications you are taking.
