Precautions

This medication contains both sitagliptin and metformin and is primarily used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. First, there is a possibility of severe allergic reactions during the use of this medication; if symptoms such as skin rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or neck occur, you should stop taking it immediately and consult a doctor. Furthermore, there is a risk of pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas, so if symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, or fever occur, you should visit a hospital immediately. The metformin component in this medication can cause lactic acidosis, a rare but potentially fatal metabolic disorder; therefore, if symptoms such as sudden difficulty breathing, muscle pain, fatigue, or abdominal pain occur, you should stop taking it immediately and inform healthcare personnel. Patients with poor kidney function, acute infections, dehydration, severe heart disease, or liver disease should not take this medication, and it should also be temporarily stopped before surgery or radiological examinations using contrast agents. In particular, it is safer not to use this medication in pregnant or nursing women, or in children under 18 years of age. During the treatment, hypoglycemia may occur, so if symptoms such as dizziness, cold sweat, or severe hunger arise, you should immediately consume sugar and consult a doctor. This medication may affect liver and kidney function, so regular blood tests and kidney function tests should be performed, and it is advisable to periodically check Vitamin B12 levels as well. Additionally, alcohol consumption can increase the risk of side effects from this medication, so you should avoid drinking alcohol while taking it. Lastly, while taking this medication, maintain regular meals and exercise, and if used in combination with other blood sugar-lowering medications, dose adjustments may be necessary to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia. Be sure to discuss other medications or health conditions with your doctor or pharmacist to use this safely.
