Precautions

This medication contains sitagliptin and metformin, which are used for the treatment of diabetes. Firstly, when taking this medication, severe allergic reactions may occur, so if symptoms such as skin rash, hives, or difficulty breathing appear, discontinue the medication immediately and consult a doctor. Also, acute pancreatitis, a serious inflammation of the pancreas, may rarely occur, so if abdominal pain or vomiting occurs, you should promptly inform medical personnel. The metformin included in this medication may pose risks for patients with decreased kidney function, so regular checks on kidney function should be conducted, and it should not be taken if there is severe renal disease or acute renal failure. Especially avoid taking this medication during conditions that can affect kidney function, such as dehydration, severe infections, heart disease, or sepsis, or temporarily discontinue it. It is not recommended for use in pregnant or breastfeeding women, or in children under 18 years of age. During the medication period, you should be aware of hypoglycemic symptoms, particularly if taken with insulin or sulfonylureas, as the risk of hypoglycemia may increase, so blood sugar should be checked frequently. Additionally, this medication may cause gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, so please be advised. Before and after surgery or exams using radiographic contrast agents, this medication should be temporarily discontinued and resumed only after confirming normal kidney function. You should avoid excessive alcohol consumption while taking this medication, as alcohol can increase the risk of lactic acidosis, a side effect of this medication. Finally, it is important to have regular blood tests and kidney function assessments, as well as checking vitamin B12 levels during the course of treatment. By adhering to these precautions, this medication can assist in managing diabetes.
