Improvement in blood sugar control for type 2 diabetes

View approved original text

This medication is used as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes using Sitagliptin and Dapagliflozin together. It helps stabilize blood sugar levels to improve the effectiveness of diabetes treatment.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

In patients administered with Sitagliptin 100 mg and Dapagliflozin 10 mg, 1 tablet may be taken once daily without regard to meals. Tablets should be swallowed whole.

Precautions

This medication can cause severe allergic reactions due to the Sitagliptin component, so if symptoms such as skin rash or difficulty breathing occur after taking it, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. There are also reports of serious side effects, including acute pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas. If abdominal pain, vomiting, or severe abdominal discomfort occurs during use, promptly inform medical personnel. This medication should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes or those undergoing dialysis, and should not be taken if there is an allergy to the active ingredients or excipients. Patients with reduced fluid volume or impaired kidney function should consult a doctor before taking this medication, and blood pressure and kidney function should be monitored regularly during use. Because this medication lowers blood sugar, caution is needed when taken with other blood glucose-lowering agents like insulin or sulfonylureas, as hypoglycemic symptoms may occur, and dosage adjustments for other medications may be necessary. During treatment, there is a possibility of genital infections and urinary tract infections, so prompt treatment is required if any infection symptoms occur. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised not to use this medication, especially during breastfeeding, as it may affect the baby. Elderly patients may have decreased kidney function, so kidney function tests should be performed before and after taking this medication, and if any abnormal symptoms arise, consult medical personnel. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so appropriate treatment should be given according to the symptoms, and monitoring and symptomatic treatment at a hospital may be required. This medication does not significantly affect driving or machine operation; however, attention is needed for the risk of hypoglycemia when taken with other blood glucose-lowering agents. Finally, keep this medication out of the reach of children and store it in its original container to maintain its quality.
