Improvement of blood glucose control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is used as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve blood glucose control in patients with type 2 diabetes. Sitagliptin and dapagliflozin work together to help lower blood sugar levels more effectively. Therefore, it strengthens blood sugar management and contributes to the prevention of diabetic complications.
This medication can be administered at a dose of 1 tablet once a day without regard to meals to patients receiving sitagliptin 100 mg and dapagliflozin 10 mg. The tablets should be swallowed whole.
This medication contains sitagliptin and dapagliflozin, and is primarily used for blood glucose control in patients with type 2 diabetes. Firstly, this medication can cause hypersensitivity reactions, so patients who have had allergic reactions to this medication or its components should not take it. Moreover, serious pancreatic disorders such as acute pancreatitis have been reported, so if symptoms such as abdominal pain or dyspepsia occur while taking this medication, a doctor should be consulted immediately. This medication may affect kidney function, so patients with impaired renal function need dose adjustments, and it should not be administered to patients undergoing dialysis. Dapagliflozin may cause decreased fluid volume and hypotension, thus elderly patients or those taking diuretics or with a history of hypotension should exercise caution. This medication may also increase the risk of genital and urinary tract infections, so prompt treatment is necessary if there are related symptoms. Serious metabolic disturbances such as diabetic ketoacidosis may occur, so if symptoms such as vomiting, abdominal pain, or shortness of breath arise, healthcare personnel should be notified immediately. Use of this medication is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, especially during breastfeeding as the drug may be passed into breast milk, so it should be avoided. The risk of hypoglycemia exists, so dose adjustments are necessary when combined with other hypoglycemic agents such as insulin or sulfonylureas, and one should be vigilant for symptoms of hypoglycemia. Caution is advised when driving or operating machinery, and if any adverse reactions are suspected, one should consult healthcare personnel immediately.
