View approved original text

This medication helps patients with type 2 diabetes to achieve better blood sugar control when combined with dietary management and exercise therapy. It is particularly used in cases where Sitagliptin and Dapagliflozin are administered together, aiding in the stable management of blood glucose levels. This can contribute to the prevention of complications by ensuring proper blood sugar control. It is a crucial adjunct in diabetes treatment, thus it is recommended for use without worry.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Administer 1 tablet of Sitagliptin 100 mg and Dapagliflozin 10 mg once daily regardless of meals. The tablet should be swallowed whole.

Precautions

This drug contains two components, Sitagliptin and Dapagliflozin, and is primarily used for blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes. The Sitagliptin component can rarely cause serious allergic reactions; therefore, if symptoms such as rash, swelling, or difficulty breathing occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. Moreover, Sitagliptin can induce pancreatic issues such as acute pancreatitis, so careful monitoring is advised if symptoms like abdominal pain, vomiting, or nausea arise. The Dapagliflozin component may cause a reduction in fluid volume and renal function decline, thus patients with poor renal function or at risk of dehydration should have periodic assessments of renal function and blood pressure before and during use. It is not safe to use this drug in patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, or those on dialysis. While on this medication, hypoglycemic symptoms may occur, especially when used in conjunction with other hypoglycemic agents such as insulin or sulfonylureas, increasing the risk of hypoglycemia. This medication may increase the risk of genital and urinary tract infections, so immediate treatment is necessary if symptoms of infection appear, and patients with a history of infections should be more cautious. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid using this medication; if pregnancy is confirmed, the medication should be discontinued immediately. Elderly patients or those with impaired renal function may require dosage adjustments and regular monitoring of renal function. In cases of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so symptomatic treatment is recommended, and drug removal via procedures like dialysis may be considered if necessary. Finally, caution is advised while driving or operating machinery during treatment, as hypoglycemic symptoms may occur, and the medication should be kept out of reach of children.
