Dosage and Administration
Adult dosage
This medicine can be administered to patients taking sitagliptin 100 mg and dapagliflozin 10 mg, 1 tablet once a day regardless of meals. The tablet must be swallowed whole.
Precautions
This medicine contains sitagliptin and dapagliflozin.
Firstly, sitagliptin may cause serious allergic reactions in some patients, so if symptoms such as skin rash, swelling, or difficulty breathing occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician.
Additionally, acute pancreatitis may develop, indicated by symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting, and medical attention should be sought promptly.
Next, dapagliflozin may lead to decreased body fluid levels and worsening kidney function, so patients at risk for dehydration or low blood pressure should use caution. Especially, patients with impaired kidney function or the elderly should have their kidney function monitored regularly before and during treatment.
This medicine is not to be used in patients with Type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, or those undergoing dialysis.
During treatment, attention should be paid to symptoms of hypoglycemia, and when taken with insulin or sulfonylurea medications that lower blood sugar, there may be an increased risk of hypoglycemia, requiring dosage adjustment.
Additionally, during treatment, the likelihood of genital infections or urinary tract infections may arise; hence, prompt treatment should be sought if related symptoms occur.
Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding are advised not to use this medication and should consult a physician before use.
Finally, safety and efficacy in patients under 18 years of age have not been established, and it is recommended not to use this medication in children.
If any unusual symptoms or suspected side effects occur during treatment, please consult healthcare professionals.
