This medication is used to relieve pain associated with urinary tract spasms, pain caused by gastrointestinal and biliary dysfunction, and gynecological spasmodic pain. It is also helpful in the adjunctive treatment of uterine contractions occurring during pregnancy. Therefore, this medication is effective in improving symptoms of spasms and pain due to various causes.
○ Adults: Dissolve 160㎎ of phloroglucinol in one glass of water or place it under the tongue, and administer orally when symptoms occur. Adjust the dose as appropriate according to age and symptoms.
○ Children: Dissolve 80㎎ in one glass of water and administer twice daily.
This medicine contains the artificial sweetener aspartame, which is broken down into phenylalanine in the body. Therefore, patients with phenylketonuria, a genetic condition that requires restriction of phenylalanine intake, should not take this medication. The maximum daily allowable dose of aspartame is set at 40mg per kg of body weight, so it should be used in the minimum amount possible. For example, in the case of a 60kg adult, the maximum daily dosage is 2.4g. Patients with hypersensitivity to this medication should avoid taking it. Additionally, this medication contains lactose, so patients with hereditary issues such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should also refrain from using it. During use, rare symptoms of nausea or dry mouth may occur, in which case it may be necessary to lower the dosage or temporarily discontinue use. Severe skin symptoms such as allergic reactions or acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis may appear, and if such symptoms occur, it is important to consult a healthcare professional immediately. Mood disturbances or double vision symptoms may rarely occur, and in such cases, appropriate measures should be taken. Since this medication has antispasmodic effects, it is preferable to avoid taking it in combination with analgesics like morphine or its derivatives. Women in the first three months of pregnancy or those who may become pregnant are advised to refrain from using this medication. Likewise, breastfeeding women should also avoid taking this medication.
