Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

This medication is administered as 1 tablet containing 100 mg of sitagliptin and 10 mg of dapagliflozin once daily, with or without meals. The tablet should be swallowed whole.

Precautions

This medication contains two ingredients, sitagliptin and dapagliflozin, which are both used for treating diabetes. Firstly, sitagliptin may cause severe allergic reactions in some patients, so if symptoms such as skin rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or lips occur within 3 months of administration, it should be discontinued immediately and a doctor consulted. Additionally, sitagliptin can cause inflammation of the pancreas known as acute pancreatitis, so if symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting occur, the medication should be stopped immediately and a hospital visit is required. Dapagliflozin may cause decreased fluid volume in the body and impaired kidney function, therefore, particularly in patients with impaired kidney function or the elderly, physical condition should be thoroughly evaluated before administration, and blood pressure and kidney function should be checked regularly during use. This medication should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes or those undergoing renal dialysis, and it should also be avoided in patients allergic to this medication or its components. While taking this medication, there is a risk of hypoglycemia, so caution should be exercised for symptoms of hypoglycemia when used with other blood glucose-lowering agents such as insulin or sulfonylureas, and dosage adjustment may be necessary. Moreover, this medication may increase the risk of genital infections and urinary tract infections, so if symptoms of infection occur, medical personnel should be notified immediately. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid taking this medication, particularly during breastfeeding, as it may affect the baby. In the elderly, the probability of impaired kidney function is high, so dosage adjustment and kidney function testing are important. There is no specific antidote for overdose, so appropriate treatment should be administered immediately at a medical facility, and dialysis may be considered depending on symptoms. Finally, there may be a risk of hypoglycemia when driving or operating machinery while taking this medication, so caution should be exercised. For safe use of this medication, it is important to have regular health status checks and consult medical personnel immediately in case of any adverse symptoms.
