This medication helps alleviate symptoms of abdominal pain, dyspepsia, nausea, and vomiting caused by gastroesophageal reflux, hiatal hernia, as well as inflammation and ulcers of the stomach and duodenum. It also has the effect of improving abdominal discomfort due to irritable bowel syndrome or spastic colitis. In children, it is used to treat habitual vomiting and constipation or diarrhea due to non-infectious motility disorders. Overall, it is effective in alleviating various gastrointestinal-related symptoms by improving digestive function and bowel motility.

How to take

Adult dose

As Trimebutine Maleate, take 100-200 mg orally three times a day before meals. Adjust as appropriate based on age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication may affect the gastrointestinal system, and rare symptoms such as constipation, diarrhea, borborygmus (sounds from the abdomen), nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, dry mouth, and a numb sensation in the mouth may occur. Additionally, it may affect the cardiovascular system, occasionally leading to symptoms like rapid heartbeat. It can also influence the central nervous system, resulting in rare occurrences of fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, lethargy, and headaches. Liver function could be impacted, potentially causing a temporary increase in liver enzyme levels. Allergic reactions may rarely appear as skin rashes; if such symptoms occur, the medication should be discontinued immediately. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been fully established. Therefore, women who are pregnant or could become pregnant should only use it if the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks. Women who are breastfeeding should avoid this medication due to uncertain safety. If it must be taken, it is advisable to stop breastfeeding. This medication contains lactose; therefore, individuals with genetic metabolic disorders such as lactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take it.
