Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

This drug may be administered to patients receiving sitagliptin 100 mg and dapagliflozin 10 mg at a dose of one tablet once a day, regardless of meals. The tablet should be swallowed whole.

Precautions

This drug contains sitagliptin and dapagliflozin and should be used with caution. First, this medication may cause allergic reactions, so patients with a history of hypersensitivity should avoid taking it. Particularly, there is a risk of anaphylaxis, angioedema, and severe skin conditions, so caution is required. Additionally, there is a risk of acute pancreatitis, so if symptoms such as abdominal pain or vomiting occur after taking this medication, immediate consultation with a healthcare provider is necessary. This drug is not to be used in patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, or in patients undergoing dialysis. Dapagliflozin can cause decreased fluid volume or renal impairment, so patients with renal dysfunction, the elderly, or those taking diuretics should check their renal function and fluid status before taking this drug, and should also monitor regularly during treatment. Moreover, this drug could influence blood sugar control, so when used in conjunction with hypoglycemic agents such as insulin or sulfonylureas, there may be an increased risk of hypoglycemia, and dosage adjustment may be necessary. During treatment, there may be occurrences of genital infections or urinary tract infections; if infection symptoms appear, immediate treatment should be sought. Women who are pregnant or nursing should avoid taking this drug, and safety in children under 18 years of age has not been established. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, and appropriate treatment should be administered based on symptoms, and blood dialysis may be considered if necessary. Finally, while this drug does not significantly affect driving or operating machinery, caution is needed due to the possibility of hypoglycemic symptoms. Regular check-ups with a doctor should be scheduled during the course of this medication, and if any abnormal symptoms arise, immediate consultation is recommended.
