Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

This medication can be administered to patients receiving sitagliptin 100 mg and dapagliflozin 10 mg as one tablet once daily regardless of meals. The tablet should be swallowed whole.

Precautions

This medication contains sitagliptin and dapagliflozin, which are used for the treatment of diabetes. First, the sitagliptin component may cause rare but serious allergic reactions, so if symptoms such as rash or difficulty breathing occur, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. Additionally, there is a risk of acute pancreatitis, an inflammation of the pancreas, so if symptoms like abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting occur, inform healthcare personnel immediately. This medication is not for patients with type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, or those undergoing dialysis. Second, the dapagliflozin component may reduce body fluid volume, leading to decreased blood pressure or impaired kidney function; thus, patients with poor kidney function, elderly patients, or those taking diuretics should consult a physician before use. If symptoms of fluid volume decrease (dizziness, dehydration, etc.) appear, they should be reported immediately, and temporary discontinuation of use may be necessary. Furthermore, dapagliflozin may increase the risk of genital and urinary tract infections, so appropriate treatment is required if infection symptoms occur. Serious conditions such as diabetic ketoacidosis may arise, so watch for symptoms such as loss of appetite, abdominal pain, or difficulty breathing, and ketone levels should be checked regardless of blood sugar levels. Use of this medication is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, so consultation with a physician is essential. Finally, this medication, when used with insulin or sulfonylureas, may increase the risk of hypoglycemia; therefore, careful blood sugar control is necessary and dose adjustments may be needed if required. If any abnormal symptoms occur while taking this medication, please consult with medical personnel immediately.
