This medication helps to lower blood pressure more effectively in patients with essential hypertension who are not sufficiently controlled on monotherapy with pimodivir potassium. It is used to improve blood pressure control and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage of this medication is one tablet once a day, taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g. morning). Elderly patients (under 70 years) do not require initial dose adjustment. Patients with mild to moderate kidney impairment (creatinine clearance 30-80 mL/min) do not require dosage adjustment, however, in patients with severe impairment (creatinine clearance < 30 mL/min), treatment with 30 mg of pimodivir should be initiated.

Child dose

Safety and efficacy in pediatric and adolescent patients under 18 years of age have not been established.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with allergies to the ingredients of this medication, certain kidney diseases, liver dysfunction, biliary obstruction, and certain genetic metabolic disorders should not take this medication. Patients with depleted blood volume or sodium, impaired kidney function, renal artery hypertension, etc. should be cautious, as hypotension or worsening of kidney function may occur when taking this medication. Side effects such as dizziness, headache, edema, urinary disorders, insomnia, and flushing may occur, and in rare cases, severe kidney problems or allergic reactions may also occur. Due to the potential risk of hypotension, blood pressure and electrolyte status should be regularly monitored, particularly in patients on high-dose diuretics who need to be aware of symptoms of low blood pressure. This medication may interact with other antihypertensives, potassium-sparing diuretics, lithium preparations, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, so it is critical to inform your healthcare provider of any other medications being taken. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised to avoid this medication, and careful consideration should be given in consultation with a healthcare professional if needed. Safety and efficacy in patients under 18 years of age have not been established, so its use is not recommended. Elderly patients may be more sensitive to this medication, so caution is advised when taking it. Patients with moderate to severe liver dysfunction should not take this medication. In case of overdose, severe hypotension and cardiac issues may occur; immediate medical attention should be sought, and emergency treatment may be necessary. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, and transferring it to another container can lead to quality degradation or accidents, which should be avoided.
