This medication is used when blood pressure is not adequately controlled with pimansartan potassium monotherapy for essential hypertension. This drug helps lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases, and improve blood pressure control. Appropriate therapeutic effects can be expected based on the patient’s condition.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage for this medication is one tablet once a day, taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). 30/2.5 milligrams: Administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with pimansartan 30 milligrams monotherapy. 60/2.5 milligrams: Administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with pimansartan 60 milligrams monotherapy.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy in pediatric and adolescent patients under 18 years of age have not been established.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm or death to the fetus or newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. This medication should not be used in patients with certain allergic reactions, pregnant or breastfeeding women, patients undergoing renal dialysis, patients with moderate to severe liver impairment, or patients with biliary obstruction. Additionally, patients with diabetes or severely impaired kidney function, specific genetic lactose intolerance, patients with severe aortic stenosis, or patients in shock should also avoid taking this medication. Patients with reduced blood volume or sodium, impaired kidney function, patients with renal artery hypertension, patients with aortic and mitral stenosis, primary aldosteronism patients, severe hypotension patients, and the elderly should use this medication with caution and their condition should be closely monitored during treatment. This medication contains certain pigment components, so patients with allergic reactions to them should take care. While taking this medication, side effects such as dizziness, headache, facial swelling, urination disorders, insomnia, and flushing may occur, and rarely, serious kidney problems or blood pressure drops may occur. If blood pressure drops too low, immediate consultation with medical staff is required, and if symptoms of hypotension are severe, the patient should be laid down and should receive fluid therapy if necessary. This medication may increase serum potassium levels; thus, patients at risk of hyperkalemia should undergo regular blood tests. Caution is needed when used with other antihypertensive agents, as excessive drops in blood pressure may occur. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur while driving or operating machinery, so caution is advised. Pregnant and breastfeeding women are advised to avoid taking this medication, especially during pregnancy due to the potential risk to the fetus. Safety has not been adequately established for children and adolescents under 18 years of age. In case of overdose, hypotension, arrhythmia, and in severe cases, shock may occur, requiring immediate emergency treatment. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, and to maintain quality, it should not be transferred to another container.

Urticaria, severe swelling, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in oral/ocular mucosa, breathlessness or difficulty breathing, asthma attack, respiratory abnormalities accompanied by cough and fever, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), extreme lethargy, sudden and severe headaches, thunderclap headache, seizures, confusion, visual disturbances, paralysis, decreased urine output

Mild side effects

Dizziness, orthostatic dizziness, headache, facial swelling, peripheral edema, urination disorders, insomnia, flushing, dyspepsia, vomiting, nausea, upper abdominal pain, weakness, foreign body sensation, elevated liver enzyme levels, reduced platelet count, increased serum creatine phosphokinase levels, cough, muscle contractions, musculoskeletal stiffness, itching, local urticaria, erectile dysfunction, vasculitis, increased tension, sensory loss/sensory abnormalities, peripheral neuropathy, fainting, altered taste, tremors
