Improvement in blood pressure control for essential hypertension
This medication helps to lower blood pressure more effectively and reduce the risk of complications from hypertension in patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy of Pimasartan Potassium. Therefore, it is used for the treatment of essential hypertension.
The recommended dosage for adults is 1 tablet once a day, taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., morning). If blood pressure is not controlled, conversion to this medication may be considered after monotherapy with Pimasartan. Elderly patients (aged 70 or less) do not require initial dosage adjustment. Patients with mild to moderate renal impairment do not require dosage adjustment; however, severe renal impairment patients.
Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established.
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters. It must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. It should not be used in patients with allergic reactions to this medication, certain liver diseases, patients on kidney dialysis, patients with biliary obstruction, and some heart diseases. Patients who are volume-depleted or salt-depleted, those with impaired kidney function, and elderly patients need caution while using this medication, and their condition should be closely monitored. Side effects such as dizziness, headache, facial swelling, urination problems, insomnia, and flushing may occur during use, so any abnormal symptoms should be consulted with healthcare professionals. Patients with low blood pressure or electrolyte imbalance should correct these conditions before taking this medication and should periodically monitor blood pressure and serum electrolyte levels during treatment. This drug may enhance blood pressure-lowering effects when used with other antihypertensive drugs or diuretics, so it should be taken under the guidance of healthcare professionals. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised to avoid this medication, and particularly in breastfeeding cases, it is recommended to stop breastfeeding or discontinue the medication. Safety in pediatric patients has not been established, so it is preferable not to use in patients under 18 years of age. Overdosage can lead to severe hypotension or cardiac abnormalities. Therefore, it is crucial to adhere to the prescribed dosage and seek medical attention immediately in case of overdose. This medication should be stored out of reach of children and should not be transferred to other containers.
Urticaria, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe swelling (edema), severe rash with fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in oral or ocular mucosa, difficulty in breathing or shortness of breath, asthma attacks, respiratory distress accompanied by cough and fever, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), extreme tiredness throughout the body, sudden and severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, altered consciousness, visual disturbances, paralysis, and changes in urination.
Dizziness, orthostatic dizziness, headache, facial edema, peripheral edema, urination disorders, insomnia, flushing, dyspepsia, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain, weakness, foreign body sensation, elevated liver enzymes, decreased platelet count, increased serum creatine phosphokinase, cough, muscle cramps, musculoskeletal stiffness, itching, localized urticaria, erectile dysfunction, blood pressure lowering, sinoatrial block or atrioventricular block, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, loose stools, constipation, and fatigue.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication is sensitive to light, so it should be stored in an opaque container that does not allow light to enter. Additionally, it is advisable to keep it at a temperature between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius to maintain its effectiveness.
