This medication can be used for patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy with pimasartan potassium. It helps to effectively lower blood pressure to prevent cardiovascular complications and improve health.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose for this medication is one tablet once daily, to be taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). Patients taking pimasartan and esamlodipine (amlodipine) can be switched to this medication (a combination drug with the same ingredient amounts) for convenience in taking. For elderly patients (under 70 years of age), initial dose adjustment is not necessary.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy in pediatric and adolescent patients under 18 years of age have not been established.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm or death to the fetus and newborn if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters; therefore, discontinue immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. This medication should not be used in individuals with an allergy to its ingredients, pregnant or nursing women, patients on renal dialysis, patients with moderate to severe liver impairment, patients with biliary obstruction, patients with specific kidney diseases, patients with lactose intolerance, patients with severe aortic stenosis, and patients in shock. Particularly cautious use is advised for patients with low blood volume or salt, impaired renal function, renal artery hypertension, specific heart conditions, the elderly, etc., and administration should be under careful observation. Taking this medication may cause side effects such as dizziness, headache, facial or peripheral edema, urinary disorders, insomnia, flushing, etc., hence consult a physician if unusual symptoms persist or worsen. Patients with low blood pressure or electrolyte imbalances are at particular risk of excessively low blood pressure during initial dosing, so caution is required, and appropriate measures should be taken if necessary. This medication may interact with other antihypertensives or potassium-sparing diuretics, so inform the healthcare provider of any other medications being taken. Pregnant or nursing women should consult a physician before using this medication, and if breastfeeding, it is recommended to either halt breastfeeding or discontinue the medication. The safety and efficacy of this medication in children under 18 years of age have not been established, hence use is not recommended. Overdose may result in serious symptoms such as lowered blood pressure and heart rhythm abnormalities, requiring immediate medical attention.
