This medication is used in the treatment of essential hypertension when blood pressure control is insufficient with Pimizartan potassium monotherapy. Therefore, it is recommended as a beneficial treatment option for patients with difficult blood pressure control.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage for this medication is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is advisable to take it at the same time daily (e.g., in the morning). For patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with Pimizartan 30 milligrams monotherapy, 30/2.5 milligrams should be administered. For those not adequately controlled with Pimizartan 60 milligrams monotherapy, 60/2.5 milligrams should be administered.

Child dose

Safety and effectiveness for pediatric and adolescent patients younger than 18 years have not been established.

Precautions

This medication may cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with allergies to the active ingredients or similar class of medications, those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and patients undergoing renal dialysis or with severe liver disease, and those with biliary obstruction should not take this medication. Also, patients with certain kidney issues among diabetes patients, those with specific genetic metabolic disorders, severe aortic stenosis, and those in shock should not use this medication. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function, and serum potassium levels is essential during medication use, and potential interactions may occur with other antihypertensives, potassium-sparing diuretics, and certain analgesics, so it is crucial to inform healthcare professionals of any concurrent medications. Women of childbearing potential should confirm pregnancy status while taking this medication and discontinue it immediately if pregnant; breastfeeding is not recommended while taking this medication. Safety in children has not been established, and caution is advised in elderly patients. In case of overdose, hypotension, arrhythmias, and, in severe cases, shock may occur; seek medical attention immediately for appropriate treatment. Store this medication in a place where children cannot reach and do not transfer it to other containers.
