Improvement of blood pressure control in essential hypertension
This medication is used to control the blood pressure of patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy with pimasartan potassium.
The recommended dosage of this medication is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of mealtime. It is recommended that it be taken at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). Dosage adjustment: - For patients not adequately controlled on monotherapy with pimasartan 30 mg, may switch to 30/2.5 mg. - For patients not adequately controlled on monotherapy with pimasartan 60 mg, may switch to 60/2.5 mg. - For patients still not adequately controlled on pimasartan 60 mg monotherapy or this formulation 60/2.5 mg, may switch to 60/5 mg.
This drug can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn, especially in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. It should not be used in individuals with allergies to its active ingredients or similar substances, pregnant or breastfeeding women, patients on dialysis, patients with moderate to severe liver impairment, and other specific patients. Patients with reduced blood volume or sodium, patients with impaired kidney function, and patients with renovascular hypertension should use this medication cautiously and their condition should be carefully monitored during administration. While taking this medication, side effects such as dizziness, headache, facial swelling, urination disorders, insomnia, and flushing may occur; consultation with a healthcare provider should be sought if any abnormal symptoms arise. Particular caution should be exercised in cases of hypotension or electrolyte imbalance, and if blood pressure drops too low, the patient should be laid down and, if necessary, fluid therapy initiated. This medication can raise serum potassium levels, so patients with heart failure or kidney disease should have their potassium levels regularly checked through blood tests. There may be interactions when used with other antihypertensive agents or specific medications, so it is essential to inform healthcare providers of any current medications. During pregnancy, the drug should be avoided due to serious potential impacts on the fetus. Its use is also not recommended during breastfeeding. The safety and efficacy of this medication in children and adolescents under 18 years have not yet been established. In the elderly, special dosage adjustments are not required, but some elderly individuals may be more sensitive to the medication, so caution is advised. This drug should not be used in patients with moderate to severe liver impairment, and in case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension and cardiac arrhythmias may occur, requiring immediate medical attention. This drug should be stored out of reach of children, and transferring to another container is not recommended as it can affect the quality.
