This medication is used to effectively lower blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension who find it difficult to control their blood pressure with monotherapy of pimasartan potassium.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose for adults is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time daily (e.g., in the morning). For patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy of 30 milligrams of pimasartan, administer 30/2.5 milligrams. For patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy of 60 milligrams of pimasartan, administer 60/2.5 milligrams.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy for pediatric and adolescent patients under 18 years of age have not been established.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious injury or death to the fetus and neonate if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy; therefore, it must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with allergies to any components of this medication, those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, patients undergoing renal dialysis, patients with moderate to severe hepatic impairment, those with biliary obstruction, certain kidney and diabetes patients, those with genetic issues such as lactose intolerance, patients with severe aortic stenosis, and those in a state of shock should not take this medication. Special caution is required for patients with reduced blood volume, salt depletion, impaired kidney function, renal artery hypertension patients, aortic and mitral stenosis patients, primary aldosteronism patients, severe hypotension, elderly patients, and those allergic to specific colorants present in this medication. Dizziness, headaches, facial swelling, urinary disorders, insomnia, flushing, and other side effects may occur during treatment, and rare reports of kidney and cardiovascular abnormalities or allergic reactions have also been noted. This medication lowers blood pressure, so patients with hypotension or fluid imbalances should be closely monitored, especially when starting treatment or increasing doses. There is a risk of elevated serum potassium levels; therefore, patients with cardiac or kidney disease should undergo regular blood tests. Drug interactions may occur when taken with other antihypertensive medications, certain diuretics, lithium, or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, so consultation with a physician or pharmacist is necessary. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised to avoid taking this medication; if necessary, they should consult healthcare professionals. The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established for children under 18 years of age, and it is recommended not to use it in this group. In the case of overdose, severe hypotension, cardiac arrhythmias, etc., may occur; therefore, immediate medical attention is required.
